This year’s guest speaker is Amy Dickinson, the syndicated “Ask Amy” columnist and author of “The Mighty Queens of Freeville.” Ms. Dickinson will be on hand to sign books, which will also be available for sale.The event will have a Women’s Market featuring local female entrepreneurs and many fine products including jewelry, clothing, body care, and more. 2010 Regional Job Fair

Community Supported Agriculture Fair

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County will host a regional Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair. Fifteen CSA farms serving Cayuga, Cortland, Tompkins, Seneca, Schuyler, and Tioga Counties will be on hand
to talk with consumers about their farms and CSA programs.
CSA provides members with a weekly selection of just-harvested food and farmers with an established market prior to the growing season. There are differences between CSA programs such as share size, products offered, pick-up locations,
u-pick options and on-farm work opportunities. There will quiet activities to occupy children while parents circulate and
table space to sit and review material you gather. CSA programs fill up quickly so don’t miss out this season.

At the peak of maple syruping season, dozens of maple syrup makers around New York open their doors to the public in a celebration called New York Maple Weekend. The modern maple syrup making operation at Cornell University's Arnot Forest in Van Etten, NY will host a pancake breakfast, public tours, syrup tasting, and displays and demonstrations explaining new and old maple syruping technology. The huge evaporator will be running at full-tilt, with sap running from thousands of sugar maple trees directly to the sugarhouse. Director Tom Scoggins made a documentary about Red Bird Mission, located deep within the forests of eastern Kentucky. Where: T-Burg Mini Golf and Family Entertainment Center, 1966 Route 96, Trumansburg T-Burg Mini Golf is once again hosting their annual Free Easter Egg Hunt. Family activities open at 10:30am and will include bounce houses, face painting, build a plane, balloons, arts & crafts, gymnastics, prize wheel, jelly bean guessing, and rubber ducky games.
There will be three separate Easter Egg Hunts; 11:00am for children 3 and under, 11:30am for ages 4 – 7 and 12:00pm for ages 8 – 12. There will be over 6,000 colorful plastic age appropriate toy and candy filled eggs hidden for everyone to find. At each hunt, there will be one hidden golden egg that can be traded in for a larger prize.
This event will be held no matter the weather conditions, so parents and children are encouraged to dress appropriate. Participants should bring their own basket to hold all their eggs!

Have an extra bit of land and want to increase your consumption of healthy fruit? Learn how to grow your own berries and tree fruits at this workshop. Cornell Cooperative Extension is partnering with Reisinger's orchard to provide this hands-on workshop. We'll start at 8:30, and by 2:00 you'll know how to evaluate and prepare your soil, set up small scale irrigation, plant, prune, fertilize, and control pests. Also, you'll learn the nutritional value of the fruits you grow and how to preserve your harvest. This workshop is geared towards serious gardeners or beginning farmers.
